Volunteer at The Warehouse
The skateboarding community of Cambridge designed, built and manage this facility! Every time the Warehouse opens, it's because of a volunteer giving their time to make the session possible. We're always on the lookout for new volunteers - let us know if you're interested in getting involved.

Why volunteer?
Support the park
There aren't many skateparks like The Warehouse. We're run for and by the community, at the most accessible price point possible.
If that's something you value, volunteering is the way we make it happen!
Skate for free
When you supervise on a weekday, you can skate as much as you want, for free, for the next two weeks.
Weekend supervisors skate for free for a whole month!
Community evening
Every few months we bring all the supervisors together at The Warehouse for a Community Evening.
There's free pizza and drinks, project updates, and it's where the community discusses the overall direction of the park.
How does volunteering work?
There are two main tasks when the park is open. Someone needs to be on the reception desk, making sure that people feel welcome in the space, and that they've signed the safety waiver, paid, and checked in. Someone also needs to keep an eye on the park, checking that people are following the rules and treating each other respectfully.
How do I get started? Do I need any training or qualifications?
If you're interested in getting involved, email us to introduce yourself, or talk to someone on reception! Please let us know your availability and experience, if you can.
As a new supervisor, you'll be initially paired with someone experienced, who can show you things work, and there aren't any qualifications needed for this. However, we have 4 qualifications that we aim to sort out for most supervisors eventually. There needs to be at least one person with each of these qualifications present for a session to go ahead, and to be a lead supervisor you need all 4.
🔥 Fire warden training - how to handle fire risks and evacuations. A quick online course.
🔎 DBS check - a standard background check which can be done entirely online.
🧑🏫 Safeguarding training - how to deal with young or vulnerable people.
🚑 First aid training - how to respond to any medical emergencies.
How often would I need to volunteer?
What we've found is most useful for the park is regular supervision. If someone can supervise every 2 weeks, or once a month on weekends, it's a doable commitment for volunteers, and allows the park to plan a reliable rota.
But please get in touch even if you can't commit to a regular slot! It's still useful for us to have people trained up and able to cover if supervisors are ill or absent.
